Do Not Send Them: Bring Them

The number of people within an “average” congregation today who study the Bible is surprisingly small. This statement is not based upon assumption but
fact. It is indeed stranger for this to be characteristic of those who “speak where the Bible speaks,” nevertheless, it is a condition which does exist and one which
demands attention on the part of those who really love the souls of men and women.

This article is an appeal to each member of this congregation, and individuals who may chance to read this paper. It is an appeal to Study to show yourself approved unto God” (2 Timothy 2:15). It is an appeal to “add to your faith virtue and knowledge” (2 Peter 1:5). It is an appeal to “grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ” (2 Peter 3:8). It is an appeal to store God’s Word in your “heart that you might not sin against him (Psalm 119:11). It is an appeal to learn
God’s Word so you might be able to “teach others also” (Hebrew 5:12-14).

Read carefully these words from the Prophet Hosea as he described the sinful condition of Israel: “Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for
the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.” (Hosea 4:1-2). It is interesting that God’s people have always faced the same issue of acting like the world too much. God has called us out of this world to be His Holy People. To be a people who are set apart from the way the world acts, thinks, lives, and deals with fellow man. It is really interesting that man has always had the same problem of ignoring God’s Word. Notice Hosea 1:6: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Weigh these words very carefully in your life and bring your entire family to Bible Class to gain knowledge.
