Salvation Is In None Other
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). Peter and John had healed a man at the temple gate, which presented Peter the opportunity to preach the gospel to those present in Acts chapter three. As Peter and John spoke to the people the priests, the captain of the temple and the Sadducees became troubled that they in preaching Jesus Christ preached the resurrection of the dead. In the sermon in chapter three Peter stressed: (1.) Jesus being the son of God, (2.) The sin of the people, (3.) The death of the prince of life, (4.) The resurrection of Christ from the dead and (5.) Through the power of Christ was the man healed. The opposition to Peter and John took them and put them in hold till the next day. Because of the preaching the number of disciples grew, the number of men were about five thousand. The next day Peter and John were brought before the Jewish leaders: Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John and Alexander, and all the kindred of the high priest. They inquired, by what power (authority), or in whose name had they acted. Peter filled with the Holy Spirit took advantage of the opportunity to teach the truth and preach Jesus Christ. In the defense given here Peter: (1.) Declared that it was by the authority and name of Jesus Christ the man was made whole. (2.) Peter declared that it was the Jesus whom they had crucified. (3.) God raised him from the dead. (4.) The one they rejected had become the head of the corner. (5.) Peter then emphasized that salvation could be found in none other than Jesus Christ. Read chapter four carefully and notice the development of Peter’s thoughts.
When one says that salvation is none other, it is a statement of exclusion. It excludes any other means. Jesus himself declared the he was the way, the truth and the life and not one could come to the father but by him (John 14:6). One must come to the conclusion in reading this passage that one is not saved by his own action making his salvation by merit. In Romans four Paul said “Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” verses four and five. One’s salvation will not be by works of merit which they have done (Titus3:5). The salvation of any person will be based on the sacrifice of Love made on our behalf. God commended his love for us in while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. In view of that great sacrifice our salvation is in view of God’s mercy and grace, (Ephesians 2:1-9). Neither is one’s salvation based on some other individual such as Mary Baker Eddie, or Joseph Smith, or Allah or Moses. It will not be based on the book of Mormon, Koran, the New World Translation or the Law of Moses, but on Jesus Christ and the Covent he ratified with his own blood known as the New Testament (Matthew 26:28). In John 12:40 Jesus declared “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day”. Salvation is in none other than Jesus Christ in view of that precious sacrifice he made for us and through the proper instruction given in light of his complete and final revelation known as the New Testament (John 6:45-46).
We as Christians enjoy salvation because of Jesus death and resurrection. It is his death, burial and resurrection we immolate in our obedience to the gospel in Romans 6:3-7, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” Paul said in Romans 4:25, that Christ was delivered for our offenses and was raised for our justification. No wonder it was declared that salvation is in none other.
We as Children of God should feel a deep sense of gratitude for the privilege of enjoying such a blessing of salvation that is found only in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy2:10). Thanks be to God for His matchless love, and endless mercy and grace provided by Jesus Christ our savior. For our hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus blood and righteousness, I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but whole lean on Jesus’ name”. It is on Christ the solid rock we stand, and all other ground is sinking sand.
